”okay."
Looking around the room to find the time, Alex notices her glancing around and asks...
'Everything okay?"
"Yeah, just wondering what the time is as my phone has gone dead on me."
He moves from the sofa over to the high topped fireplace; made out of marble, and lifts up his phone...
"Past twelve thirty, wow! Didn't know it was so late."
"Oh I should he going, Maddie will be stirring it if I don't get home. No doubt she'll have phoned my phone, non stop!"
"Aww okay, I didn't know you live together? At least she cares, huh?!"
"Yup and replies! Oh darn, I don't know my way round here?"
"I'll call a taxi for you."
Surprised by his generosity and immediately accepts he offer. He directs her to the bathroom so she can use the toilet before the taxi comes. The bathroom is Moroccan themed; small but beautiful. Dragging herself away from the bathroom, she tries to find her way and starts to wander...
"Alex?"
"I'm in here, in the kitchen. Is everything alright?"
Finding her way into the kitchen and stops when she sees Alex, who's looking all collected and carefree. He's managed to change into his casual; sweat pants, and faded vest top with a large v-neck flashing parts of his chest... Fifi is drawn to him right now but keeps it together.
"Yes, it's beautiful in there, in your bathroom. In fact, your home is unique but lovely."
"Thank you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the beeping of a taxi outside alarms them both. He leads the way to his front door and opens it. Just as she gets near to the bottom of the steps, too busy trying to keep up with Alex, she trips and somehow sensing her falling; he turns round and reaches out to catch her. His arms embrace her, pulling her closer, close enough for them to feel each other's breath and jumps when the taxi driver impatiently beeps hs horn, again. His eyes still locked in with hers, he goes to kiss her on the cheek and tells her to text when she gets home so he knows she's home safely. Still blushing and her heart beating fast, she lets him open the door for her and smiles nodding at him before climbing into it. He hands the driver a sum of money. As the car starts to move, he waves her goodbye and watches her fade into the midnight darkness.
It doesn't take long for her mind to go into overdrive. She didn't know where to begin. Thankfully it doesn't take long for her to get home and as predicted; Maddie's waiting for her but is asleep on the sofa when she walks into the living room. Tiptoeing; trying not to wake he, Fifi walks towards where her bedroom is but soon stops when she hears Maddie's voice calling her.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yes, I'm okay, sorry for worrying you. My phone dies and managed to get a taxi home. I... I'm gonna get to bed Mads, maybe you should do the same?"
"Okay, goodnight."
"Night night."
Sleep seems to be the last thing on Fifi's mind as she tosses and turns. Whenever she closes her eyes, all she can see is Alex. The longing to kiss him, deeply is yearning strongly. She hated the argument she had with him but is relieved that they talked. It made her laugh out when she thought about just a few months back, she couldn't bear to be near him but now, here she is like when she was fourteen years old again. Except her thoughts back then were innocent unlike now. He looked like he was about to kiss her but was he, as she tortures herself thinking about everything. What was it that she really wanted, should she let the past spoil her future and wreck any chance of a happy ending? A happy ending with Alex or Nick? If only she knew the answers to all these questions, it would certainly make things easier and settle everything once and for all. As much as she wanted to talk to Maddie about what's going on, she just couldn't and she needed to sort herself out first. Keeping quiet about everything is what she intends to do.
