Taking a deep breath, she slowly moves towards the shaded figure and in the dim light; she makes out who it is...
"I... I'm sorry Alex."
Then he takes a step closer to where Fifi is standing and just stands, staring into her eyes...
"I'm sorry as well. Please forgive me?"
"We should give up with th fighting, things used to be so east with us. Now all we ever say to each other is sorry and there's only so many sorrys I can cope with Alex."
She starts to turn around as she blinks her eye to stop from shedding a tear and he wraps his hand around hers, she pauses and goes back to facing him.
"Did I tell you how wonderful you look tonight?"
"Something like that yeah, but thank you."
He tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and continues to make eye contact with her...
"Fifi, can we cut to the chase?"
"What do you mean, Alex?"
"You disappear early today, no one hears a word from you for hours and then you turn up like this with every guy turning their head to get a look at you."
"And...?"
"Why the sudden full-on transformation? Not that I'm complaining..."
"I wanted to because I wanted to get dressed up, not for a guy's attention."
"Then why?"
"I just wanted to make the extra effort."
"Why, the party isn't that important?!"
Fifi is starting to feel exasperated at Alex being like this. When they were young, Fifi remembered him with how he was always complimenting and never questioning her motives, like he is now.
"Oh, Fifi."
He places his hand on the side of her face. She stands there, feeling the goosebumps at the base of her spine with the feel of his warm hand against her cool skin. The smell of his cologne tickled her nose making her aware of how much she missed him and she lays her hand on top of his. They can heart beating louder than the music being played inside and they stood silent. As she starts to shiver against the evening cold air, he leans in closer and nuzzles his nose with hers. Just as she closes her eyes, he presses his lips against hers. His stubble gently rubs against her chin and she wraps her arms around his neck. Eventually he deepens the kiss and she feels his tongue caressing the inside of her mouth, entwining with her tongue. Then they pull away, breaking off the kiss and once they open their eyes; they look at each other. She awkwardly smiles. Then she blushes and tilts her head so it's against his chest. He looks down at her, knowing what he wants and that she is precious to him. This time he's more determined not to lose her again, he's done that and is prepared to fight for her.
"What does this mean for us?"
Fifi looks up at him; feeling a little perplex, apprehensive and unsettled...
"That this is s from where we left and starting again on a new page. I was a fool once but never twice when it comes to you, Fifi."
"Alex, I'm not so sure. I..."
"How about I make it up to you by showing you what you've missed out on?"
"Huh?"
He then lightly kisses her neck by the ear, moving slowly downwards onto her collarbone causing her to sigh, lost in the moment. After kissing her on the lips, he stayed still with his arms embracing her before they decide on showing their faces back at the party. Alex holds the door open and follows behind Fifi who stops still...
"I guess the party has pretty much finished eh?!"
"Yup I think so. Not that I care for it anymore."
Looking around and suddenly feeling exposed.
"What do to want to do now, Fifi?"
"Think I should go to my room, we have a long flight ahead of us tomorrow. You?"
"How about I walk you up to your room?"
"Yeah sure."
Alex quickly reached out and took hold of her hand while they walk upstairs. Neither of them make conversation, Alex obviously in cloud nine whereas Fifi is confused. As they stand outside of her too,, Alex turns to face her..
"I didn't really care for the party. Fifi, you look out of this world and your effort was definitely not for nothing. Hope you sleep well tonight, goodnight."
"Thank you. See you tomorrow and goodnight to you too, Alex."
He finally lets go of her and she quietly slips into her room. He walks off with a big smile on his face.
