The Man of The Darkness - chapter 17.

It was pouring down with rain when Fifi wakes uo and thinking she heard a familiar sound... She finds herself wandering down the stairs; wrapping her dressing gown, tying it round the waist and heading for the front door. Still hearing the muffled voice, but rubbing her eyes, she's still half asleep to work out who it is. Outside in the rain; it had been after a heavy thunderstorm so the air was warm and moist but Fifi is determined to face this voice that seemed so distant yet recognisable. Standing in the middle of the road with the neighbourhood all tucked up in their beds. She stares down the road and slowly walks closer to the voice, for it was starting to get closer to her. Her heart slowly starts to beat a little faster... Out of nowhere, there it is; the voice she knew. He was walking to begin with but his pace speeds up; watching him come closer is like she's stuck on slow motion mde like in the movies except this is real life. His face is clearer and she can see his short dark hair... She stretches her arms out in front of her to reach to him. To wrap around his slender, skinny frame and as he comes within her reach; he embraces her. She feels his heartbeat; it's beating just as fast as her own heart, maybe even faster. Words aren't needed as they stand there, not moving. She then looks up to his face; it's not the face she was expecting to see but that of a guy who's older, who's lived his life to the fullest so far... A face full of facial hair. Unable to take her eyes away from his, the most beautiful eyes she's ever seen and oh how she has missed looking into them like she is now. She realises her clothes are soaked right through to her skin, but at this moment in time; nothing else matters. His mouth opening, ready to say something but nothing comes out. It's like he's been muted. She looks down his face, the face she's yearned to touch for so long and she cups her hand into the side of his face; feeling the bristles of his beard beneath her fingers. He's no more a boy but a man, the man she longed to love for the rest of her life. They move closer as they go to kss...

"Fifi! Wake up honey, Fifi!!"

He begins to fade awar as this other voice gets louder. She reaches out for him, not wanting to et go; not again...

"Earth to Fifi!! Are you okay?"

Within a flash he was gone, and she slowly lifts her eyelids to catch the bright, vivid rays of the sun, peering through the curtains. The voice she just heard is now standing over her, gently trying to bring her back round. Confused and feeling alarmed at why her friend is so determined to wake her up, it must only be about eight or maybe nine in the morning, is it? Now stting hersef up and Maddie sitting down by her feet on the bed, looking slightly worried...

"Maddie, what's wrong? Why are you up so early?"

"Huh?!! What's wrong, you staying in bed all this time. I tried earlier, before breakfast but you were out like there's no tomorrow!! I thought you were poorly, I was starting to worry."

"Breakfast, why what time is it?"

"Half twelve; past midday anyway. We only have half an hour before we're due on the bus to get the venue."

"Oh... I'm so sorry Maddie. I guess I was just really tired. Better get ready hadn't I?!"

The next minute, she jumps out of bed and rushes into the bathroom. With not a moment to spare, they make it to the bus just in time. Everyone else is alreadt on the bus waiting. When they step on, no one makes a fuss but all say hello to them as they find a pair of empty seats in between everyone. Fifi sees Alex and it takes her back to... Just thirty minutes beforehand. As she stares out of the window, all she can see is what was in that dream. Too busy thinking about it, she doesn't hear anything around her and hasn't realised that they are now at the venue.
